Attention, sci-fi enthusiasts! We have thrilling news about the Alien and Predator franchises, and even a hint of Alien Vs. Predator developments. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Asbell, the head of 20th Century Studios, shared some tantalizing updates about the future of these iconic series.
Alien: Romulus Sequel in the Works
Fede Alvarez is already brainstorming ideas for a sequel to Alien: Romulus. While the deal with Alvarez isn’t finalized yet, Asbell is optimistic about the project. The hope is to bring back stars David Jonsson and Cailee Spaeny, who played the memorable characters Rain and Andy. Asbell expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We know there’s going to be aliens. We know there’s going to be great horror set pieces. But I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is.”
Secret Predator Movie Revealed
On the Predator front, Dan Trachtenberg, known for Prey, has wrapped up production on a new project in New Zealand, starring Elle Fanning, titled Badlands. Interestingly, Trachtenberg has also secretly completed another Predator film. Asbell teased, “There’s a secret Predator movie that will come out before the theatrical one but I can’t say anything about that yet.” While details are scarce, Asbell’s mention of Badlands as a “live-action Predator” film raises intriguing possibilities.
Alien Vs. Predator: A New Approach
As for the potential crossover between Alien and Predator, Asbell hinted at a fresh take. He mentioned that a film featuring both an alien and a predator is likely, but it won’t follow the traditional Alien Vs. Predator format. “It wouldn’t be in the way you think,” Asbell explained. Instead, the film would organically evolve from the ongoing stories of both franchises, possibly bringing beloved characters together in unexpected ways.
Stay tuned for more updates as these exciting projects develop. The future of the Alien and Predator universes looks promising, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
