The new movie Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare takes the magical tale we all know and flips it into a terrifying horror story. Directed by Scott Jeffrey, who also worked on Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, this version turns Peter Pan into a dangerous serial killer and Wendy Darling into a brave heroine fighting to save her brother from his evil clutches.
The Story: Neverland Gone Wrong
Wendy Darling’s life turns into a nightmare when her little brother, Michael, is kidnapped by Peter Pan, who now preys on children and traps them in his creepy version of Neverland. Along the way, Wendy meets a twisted, drug-addicted Tinker Bell, who reluctantly helps her. What was once a magical, fun-filled story is now a terrifying journey filled with violence and suspense.

A Darker Peter Pan
This Peter Pan isn’t the playful boy we remember. Instead, actor Martin Portlock plays him as a manipulative, terrifying figure with traits similar to Pennywise from It and The Grabber from The Black Phone. His version of Neverland is a disturbing hideout covered in crayon drawings and eerie memories, far from the magical paradise of the original story.
Even Tinker Bell is reimagined in a dark way. Played by Kit Green, she’s hooked on a drug she calls “Pixie Dust” and becomes Peter’s brainwashed sidekick.

Turning Childhood Nostalgia into Horror
This movie is the latest addition to the Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU), a series of films that turn beloved childhood stories into horror movies. The franchise started with the surprise hit Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. However, while Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare delivers plenty of gore and scary moments, it struggles to bring the original magic and creativity of Peter Pan into its horror reimagining.
What Stands Out
The Good:
- Creepy Acting: Martin Portlock’s performance as Peter Pan is genuinely unsettling.
- Special Effects: The movie uses practical effects to deliver some gruesome, shocking visuals.
- For Horror Fans: If you like movies like The Evil Dead or Terrifier, this film’s brutal scenes will appeal to you.
The Bad:
- Missed Opportunities: The movie barely uses iconic parts of the original story, like Captain Hook or Tick-Tock the Croc, which feel like afterthoughts.
- Predictable Plot: It follows typical horror movie formulas, so there aren’t many surprises.
- Lack of Imagination: Neverland could have been an incredible horror setting, but it feels underdeveloped.

Final Thoughts
Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare has some great scares and intense moments, but it doesn’t quite live up to its potential. It’s creepy and gory but feels like just another slasher movie instead of a fresh take on a beloved classic. Fans of horror will enjoy it, but it might not leave a lasting impression.
